Prayer

FIRST, we ask for your prayers. Before anything, a foundation of prayer must precede the building of this Next Chapter, so join in the prayers as they are posted or craft your own prayers for faculty by name, the campus, graduate & faculty ministry initiatives, or the chapter planter. You can partner in prayer by leaving any encouraging words from God here, or adding your own prayers for this campus and its faculty and students… and subscribe to monthly posts.

This Spring, we invite you to COMMIT SIX, six months of prayer for seeds sown on campus… come pray with us!

JULY Prayer Post: ‘Teach This’

1 Common Prayer: “O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” from Book of Common Prayer

2 Campus Prayer: O God of all knowledge, God of truth, July is a season of study and preparation for many on campus as they look toward fall–which on the University begins in just over a month! God, permeate the syllabi, the text selections, and the format of these classes with your wisdom and enrich the learning with the depth of your knowledge. Grant peace to faculty who even now are negotiating time and space for their classes; staff who are busy putting information online and in print for students searching for classes and services. Thanks be to God, who has planned good work for us to do! Amen.

3 Planter Prayer: While summer thus far has been blessed with time with family and friends from Chicago to Ashland, it has been a slow climb up the fundraising hill this month, Lord! You have already prepared people to partner in this work, please gift me with additional time and clear picture of who to engage in the coming weeks. I praise you for your provisions to accomplish this mission !

JUNE Prayer Post: ‘Seasonal Shift’

1 Common Prayer: “Blessed by the Lord be the land, with the precious gifts of heaven, with the dew, and the deep that lies beneath, with the precious fruits brought forth by the sun and the riches brought forth by the moon, with the greatness of the ancient mountains with the abundance of the everlasting hills, and with all the treasures of the earth in its perfection.” Deuteronomy 33:13-16

2 Campus Prayer: The streets and hallways of campus are subdued by the warmth of the days. Lord, travel softly with loving intent along the paths that people walk. Wash over the visionaries, the planners, the administrators that they may have fresh eyes this season for the good work you have for them to do. Give moments of pause to staff who continue work as usual to glimpse your blossoming creation outside; set aside time to reflect on You for faculty whose days are shaped by conferences, classes, and special projects this summer; infuse students with insights beyond their capacity and gift them with knowledge of You, your people, and your world. And let the weeds of distraction, confusion, and selfish ambition wither in the your Light!

3 Planter Prayer: O Lord, June marks a seasonal shift to focus on cultivating and inviting partners in prayer and finances. Generous God, lay out my work before me; ordain the conversations to come with your grace, stories of your work in transforming lives, and mission in this area. Draw me into the depth of your hope for faculty, staff, and administrators and give me words to describe this ministry as compelling as the glimpses you show me. I will be faithful to plant the seeds and receive the fruit; you are faithful to grow new and deeper partners in this work! Thank you, Lord, for the good things you have done and will do that we may be witnesses of the Living God! Amen.
